Plus the usual news of conferences and events!
25 June 2004 We've completed new "cookbook" instructions to help beginning users learn eValid technology quickly. These detailed step by step instructions focus on four primary areas of eValid capability:
eValid cookbook procedures are based on Restoring Default Values within your eValid environment.
15 June 2004 The latest update of eValid includes a new capability to control the initial conditions when a test recording begins. This feature will minimize the chances the extraneous open child windows, which are closed automatically by eValid during playback, will result in non-reliable playback scripts. 15 June 2004 eValid operation has been extended to include the ability to record mouseover events. This feature will enable eValid to record [and play] complex mouseover menu selections. See the documentation page on Mouseover Recording.

29 May 2004 The May 2004 issue of Quality Techniques Newsletter includes notices about two important web-quality related conferences, plus an update of the latest changes and additions to eValid.
27 May 2004 eValid has introduced a new series of commands that involve Saving Data To Files during eValid playback.

An important addition to this set of commands is the SaveFullHTML Command that exposes the Complete HTML used internally by eValid. This feature should allow users of eValid's Interactive Mode increased power and flexibility in controlling sophisticated playback activity.

18 May 2004 To increase user convenience we have added direct connections from eValid's Dashboard to the eValid settings section, to eValid's on-line documentation, and to eValid's cache manager. This new feature saves steps and saves time!
10 May 2004 eValid has a new JavaScript Interface that makes it possible to run a JavaScript command from an eValid script or to run an eValid command from within a JavaScript passage. The interface is two directional: from eValid scripts to JavaScript, and from with the JavaScript engine back to the eValid execution environment.

27 February 2004 The February 2004 issue of Quality Techniques Newsletter includes a Boris Beizer essay on Risk Management eValid updates, news on several new conferences and workshops that focus on the Web!
3 February 2004 We've now published a set of three new OnePage Benchmarks that analyze the top-page client-side download timings of three sets of websites:
  • Keynote Systems KB40
  • Gomez 1-Page Benchmarks
  • Financial Times FT-1560
    All of these show very different download times from what the "industry standard" timings are. They're all done in a 10-run, 10 hour, single day format. We've included the complete data for each benchmark so you can check the numbers yourself.
  • 2 February 2004 There's a new eValid Brochure available as a PDF document. The brochure emphasizes eValid as a self-contained, multi-purpose website test and analysis engine with applications in functional testing, monitoring, website tuning, website QA, server loading, detailed site analysis.

    31 January 2004 The January 2004 issue of Quality Techniques Newsletter includes descriptions of eValid's FT-150 Top Page Download Time Survey, SQRL Report releases, a retrospective and 5-year index for the QW/QWE conferences, a schedule of AmiBug courses and workshops, and news about a number of conferences and industry events.
    14 January 2004 eValid Ver. 4 has now been upgraded to provide support for Microsoft Windows Server 2003. We have eValid running normally on the Enterprise Edition (32-bit) version. This new capability is reflected in the latest eValid builds.
    9 January 2003 To complement the previously released FT-150 survey we now have released a vertical top page timing analysis that shows some remarkable results. The data was collected in a way that emphasizes difference between server delivery capacity, and minimizes web latency effects.
