VTune + eValid -- Solution Overview
eValid Home
Overview
The combination of
Intel's VTune system with eValid offers a superior full-scale server loading solution that exploits
eValid's ability to impose totally realistic loads with
Intel's VTune Enterprise Analyzer for Web Applications
capability of giving users direct feedback about the effect of imposed loads.
The combined VTune + eValid product offering is aimed at:
- Developers.
Website developers and transaction performance tuners
who need
accurate functional and performance testing
with smaller numbers of 100% realistic simulated users.
- Testers.
Pre-release QA testers and load balancing engineers
who need
complex performance and load testing scenarios
with larger numbers of simulated users,
a portion of which can run with reduced realism.
Important eValid Features
Key distinguishing features of eValid technology
include the following critical advantages and capabilities.
See also the
extended explanation of browser-based testing advantages.
- eValid is a full-featured IE-compatible browser,
not a "passive HTTP tap" or browser wrapper.
eValid recordings, playbacks, and timings have the internal, browser's view.
- Test scripts can involve any level of complexity
and any type of website object.
- Script playback provides for cacheless, full reality operation,
with complete session context preservation.
That's not possible with so-called "virtual users".
- LoadTest scenarios are user-designed
compositions of functional test scripts,
with variable fidelity, adjustable playback speeds, etc.
- Functional test and LoadTest scenario scripts are text files,
easy to manage, easy to customize.
- LoadTest playbacks can selectively repeat playbacks
to increase the length and complexity of the test.
- Playbacks can mix FULL browser, TEXT-only playbacks,
or LITE (URL only) fidelity.
- The maximum number of parallel playbacks (simulated users) depends on
machine speed, RAM, and the fidelity mix of the playbacks.
- A P-III @ 500+ Mhz machine with 1,024 MBytes RAM can run
~75 full or text sessions combined with up to 5,000 eVlite URL-check users.
- A P-IV @ 1000+ MHz with 2,048 MBytes RAM can achieve
100+ full or text sessions and up to 10,000 eVlite users.
- A 7-day eValid infinite user key provides for unlimited numbers of simulated users
on any number of additional machines.
- eValid supports Windows NT/2000/XP.
- eValid's launch footprint is 6.5 MBytes to 9.5 MBytes depending on playback fidelity level.
