eValid -- Manual Product/License Installation Instructions -- 64-Bit Architecture
eValid Home

Summary
This page explains how to install your eValid license on 64-bit architectures. The main point here is that the installation folder (directory) for 64-bit architectures of a 32-bit executable is is slightly different from that standardly used for 32-bit architectures.

Instructions
To install an eValid license key on your 64 Bit Computer, please do the following:

  1. Access the eValid license key from the delivery media, Select All and Copy.

  2. Open any text editor (e.g. Notepad, Wordpad) and Paste the license excerpt line(s) inside. Save the file as: evalid.lic.

  3. The default path for inserting the evalid.lic file on your computer, or equivalent <Drive>: location, is as shown here:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Software Research\eValid\Program\evalid.lic

After manually creating and installing the evalid.lic file, you should be able to restart eValid and validate your license information.

NOTE: If you have chosen to install eValid at some other installation directory on your 64-bit machine you will have to adapt the above instructions to match that installation directory.

Technical Explanations
The Manage License window for eValid is designed for a 32-bit environment, and will attempt to find the eValid license key at this standard location for Windows applications:

32-Bit Machine Installation Directory:
C:\Program Files\Software Research\eValid\Program\evalid.lic

The installation process for a 64-bit machine places the entire set of executables in a similar region:

64-Bit Machine Installation Directory for 32-bit Executables:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Software Research\eValid\Program\evalid.lic

Even though the eValid Manage License window does not "see" this new location for evalid.lic at execution time eValid is able to read the license file from the special 64-bit machine installation area. Hence, updating the evalid.lic file at the correct installation directory area successfully activates eValid.
