eValid -- Commercial License -- General Description
eValid Home

Summary
This page describes eValid Commercial Licenses, discusses their limits and restrictions, identifies the intended application, and describes how they are supported.

Background
The Standard eValid Software License Agreement [EULA] provides the basis for an end-user organization to apply eValid technology development and test of its own applications. Like most software product EULA licenses it does NOT provide a method for use of the eValid technology for non-internal projects. The eValid Commercial License provides a method by which an Application Service Provider (ASP) organization CAN apply eValid technology on behalf of its customers.

License Agreement Modifications & Waivers
In accordance with the nature of this type of licensed use (see below), eValid waives the terms and conditions of Paragraph 5(f) of the Standard eValid Software License Agreement when an eValid Commercial License is in use.

It is also possible to arrange to arrange a license that waives the terms of Paragraph 5(j) and/or Paragraph 5(k). This then permis use of eValid in "prototyping mode" whereby eValid recordings, perfected eValid scripts, and other operational information (e.g. DOM synchronization names and values) is used to help create a playback script for a different playback engine that the one built into eValid.

Depending on the terms of the specific licensing agreement, remote test playback authorization, authentication, and accounting methods apply to the Commercial License. This is done in accordance with Paragraph 5(g) of the Standard eValid Software License Agreement.

eValid Functional Testing/Monitoring

With a Commercial License there are no restrictions on the number of machines, or their physical location(s), on which copies of eValid with a Commercial License may be used. Use of the eValid/I International Edition can be included.

Prototyping Use Case Descriptions
In "prototyping use" the license allows a customer to (a) use eValid's powerful prototyping capability to help create scripts for other scripting engines that are executed by the customer, including those which are "open source", or (b) use eValid internally to assist in creating scripts for non-eValid test playback engines that are then sold for a fixed price or are created on an hourly compensation basis.

Pricing and Accounting
Usage charges for Commerical Licenses are based on on the actual license agreement that applies to the particular account.

In some cases the commercial license agreement is a flat fixed-fee (with no usage accounting) and in other cases access to eValid is on a "pay per run" basis (with online activation validation used as the basis for the monthly bill). Specifics of payment (including use of CreditCard payment) vary with each account.
