Yahoo! YUI Demonstration Script |
|
The Yahoo! User Interface Library (YUI)
is a collection of JavaScript objects and
elements organized as a powerful GUI support environment.
The YUI system has been used to good effect
on a number of widely known commercial websites.
This eValid application example shows
how well eValid works with one of the
toughest YUI-based websites.
As the
YUI Demonstration Script
illustrates,
eValid can locate the right things to do on the
target website, then take actions on them that are performed
independent of details of the page.
In effect, the page can change substantially
and the script will still work normally.
This is a big advantage for regression testing
because the resulting test script is very
durable, i.e. not "brittle".

| 10th IEEE International Symposium on Web Site Evolution |
|
This International Symposium on Web Site Evolution, WSE 2008, is set for 3-4 October 2008 in Beijing, China. (WSE 2008 is co-located with the 24th IEEE International Conference on Software Maintenance.) The presentation schedule appears to be very strong, including a special presentation by Scott Tilley ("Ten Years of Web Site Evolution") and two talks (one in each conference) by Harry Sneed, the noted German software engineering authority.

| Some Monitoring Recommendations |
|
Running functional tests on a regular schedule is what
Rich Internet Application (RIA) monitoring is all about.
And, that kind of monitoring is a growing eValid application.
Because eValid functional test scripts can emulate a field user doing any kind of complex transaction -- i.e. with a fully stateful emulation -- eValid functional tests become increasingly desirable for Web 2.0 and AJAX website and web application checking. In monitoring practice typically you use one eValid Master Station to create and perfect your scripts, and a set of eValid Agent Stations to play the scripts back on a scheduled basis. Here is our recommendation for eValid RIA Monitoring Packages. eValid interfaces easily with major monitoring and network management reporting engines. The interface is usually a simple PERL script. Ask us for details about your monitoring environment. We can supply the PERL scripts for eValid customers at no extra cost.
